Shutdowns

At various times it is necessary to shut down a portion of the TMWA distribution network due to a main break, installation of, or maintenance of equipment such as valves, etc. Whenever possible, customers will be notified in advance of a scheduled water line shut down.

Boil Advisories

As many of you are aware Tate Monroe Water Assn., Inc. has faithfully followed mandates from Ohio EPA with regard to the issuance of "Boil Advisories" and have notified customers of the same. The post procedures, which include bacterial testing, have been performed after each incident and will continue with the results secured by way of an independent Ohio EPA certified laboratory. Boil advisories will only be issued if the results of these tests indicate a positive test for bacteria.

Ohio EPA has recently increased the number of samples required to be secured from each incident for all water suppliers including Tate Monroe Water Assn., Inc. This increase should add to your confidence and will result in fewer "Boil Advisories", fewer notices from the Association, and fewer interruptions in water service.

Therefore, it is no longer necessary to issue a boil advisory everytime a water main is shutdown for maintenance or repair. Before a line is placed back into service, it is flushed until the residual chlorine is established at the desired level. Please call the office if you have any questions.

In the event there is a "BOIL ADVISORY", the issuance will follow the same procedure as previously utilized and water used for consumption must be boiled vigorously for one minute before using; however, the water may be used for bathing, washing dishes, etc. without boiling.

TMWA will have recorded messages on their phone line for persons who wish to determine the status of "BOIL ADVISORIES" when issued in their area. The recorded message is the first means that is updated.

Every attempt will be made to keep customers informed by one or more of the following methods in the event of main breaks, boil advisories, flushing programs, etc.

1. Door-to-door tags
2. Notes on invoices
3. Accessing voice mail at the main office
4. News media (television, radio, and/or newspaper)
5. This web site

To access the message dial 734-2236 and press 1 to get the updated advisory.
